Shaun Murphy - Snooker Player Profile

Shaun Murphy, a world-class player in snooker, is well-known for his straight cue action and long potting. He has achieved over 400 century breaks in his career, including the second maximum break in the Championship League in 2014.

Murphy was ranked number 3 in the world at start to the 2008/2009 Season. He fell to number seven during the 2010/2011 campaign. He won the Players Tour Championship, and completed his career Triple Crown. Murphy was considered an underdog and Murphy won the Players Tour Championship. In 2012, Murphy reached the final of UK Championship. But, he was defeated by Judd Trump who became the eventual winner.

Murphy is considered a talented player. He has also achieved many firsts throughout his career. Murphy's first 147 break is among his most notable achievements.

He started his career in 1998 on the Challenge Tour. Also known as the UK Tour. Tony, his father, was a professional golfer. He was bullied in school as a teenager. Although he attended homeschooling classes, he didn't see his mom until a year later. He met Elaine a year later and they were married June 2006. Despite the fears of his family, he and Elaine were married in 2014.

In his career, Shaun has won over PS3 million in prize money. He has won seven tournaments that are not ranking. Moreover, he has played in eight ranking tournaments, reaching the quarterfinals of two.

At the start to the 2004/2005 season, his ranking was number four in world. He also won both the Brugge Open (Welsh Open) and the Brugge Open. He had already been diagnosed with Savant Syndrome. It is a condition in autism that a person with autism exhibits superior skills.


He won the 2005 World Championship. He was also named Sportsman of the year by the BBC the following year. He then became a San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital, California surgical resident.

When Murphy was a young boy, he had difficulty communicating with other people. This may have affected his social skills. He has been in many difficult romantic relationships but has managed to overcome them all. During one of his matches, he even proposed to his girlfriend, Elaine, at a restaurant in Ireland.

Ray Reardon was his coach when he was 15 years old. From then on, he was coached by Ray Reardon. He continued working with Steve Prest through 2006. Willie Thorne was his coach for the 2007/2008 season. He won the Challenge Tour’s third and fourth events.

Murphy won the Wuxi Classic in China. He then entered the elite top 16. The inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy was his next appearance. Despite playing only five frames in the tournament's qualifying round, he advanced to the quarterfinals beating teenager Luca Brecel.

He then won the German Masters Championship, the Ruhr Championship, as well the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. He was ranked third for the entire 2008/2009 year. During that same season, he reached the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters and the UK Championship.
