Ralph Greenleaf started billiards just two years ago. He has since become a top player in the game. He has been to three different cushion billiards tournaments. He also placed in the top 10 of the Illinois 3-cushion Billiards Tournament last month. He has also been visiting a local billiards club in the Twin Cities every month.
Nguyen Queyet Nguyen is the Vietnamese player who is ranked second and third in billiards. Both of them are ranked among the top 10 in the world. Both players currently rank in the top 8, with Tran Quyetchien at number 7. Both players are the tournament's current champions. Ngo Dinh Nai is ranked no 29. Jeremy Bury from France ranks number 18.
On December 20-22, the 3-Cushion Carom Billiards Continental Cup in Vietnam will take place. Eight top Vietnamese players will compete in the tournament. The total prize money will be about 160,000 USD. In addition to the tournament, there will be a number of other events and events will be held throughout the year.
The United States Billiard Association, (USBA), is the official governing organization for carom and billiards. Each year, the National Championship culminates in a series events organized by The USBA. The USA will be represented at the Pan-American Championship by the top two National Championship players.
The three cushion billiards tournaments held at the Madison 3-Cushion Billiards Club were very competitive and well-contested. Two flights of six players each were fielded in the tournament. The tournament was handicapped. Therefore, the semi finals were won by the five best players in each flight. $7,400 will be awarded to the top 12 players. Bruce Venzke - a cue games legend - was the tournament director.
UMB (Union of Billiards and Carom Billiards), who is the official body for 3-cushion Billiards, sponsored this tournament. UMB also organizes numerous recurring tournaments each season. A number of upcoming events will be displayed on the UMB Turnier Schedule.
This tournament was held south of Binh Duong. Eight teams battled each other over three nights. The top two teams will move on to the semi finals. The third and fourth places will go to the quarterfinals. The final round of the tournament will be single elimination. The Las Vegas World Cup 3-cushion pool billiards tournament winner will receive a $20,000. cash prize. This is the first time Vietnamese representatives have been to the semi-finals.
The 3-Cushion Billiards Tournament is a relatively new game, but has already grown in popularity in many parts of the world. It was also featured on the animated Disney short film Donald, Mathmagic land. In addition, it was featured in the 2007 Goya Award-winning Spanish film Seven Billiard Tables.
