
Shaun Murphy has a reputation for being a top-tier snooker player. His long potting and straight cue play are what make him a great player. His career has seen him achieve more than 400 century breaks, including the second-highest break in the Championship League.
Murphy was ranked number three in the world at the start of the 2008/2009 season. Murphy dropped to number seven for 2010/2011. He won the Players Tour Championship that year and finished his career Triple Crown. Murphy was considered an underdog and Murphy won the Players Tour Championship. He then reached the finals at the UK Championship in 2012. He was defeated by Judd Trump, the eventual winner.
Murphy is considered a talented player and he has achieved many firsts in his career. These include his first 147 break and his first ranking title. He also made his first appearance in the World Snooker Championship.
His career began on the Challenge Tour, also known by the UK Tour in 1998. Tony, Tony's father, was an avid golfer. He was bullied as a teenager at school. They were married in 2014 despite his family's concerns.

He won the 2005 World Championship. He was also named Sportsman of the year by the BBC the following year. He then became a San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital, California surgical resident.
When Murphy was a young boy, he had difficulty communicating with other people. Murphy may have had a poor social life because of this. He has been in many difficult romantic relationships but has managed to overcome them all. During one of his matches, he even proposed to his girlfriend, Elaine, at a restaurant in Ireland.
Ray Reardon taught him how to play basketball when he had just turned 15. Following that, he worked with Steve Prest until 2006. For the 2007/2008 season, he was coached by Willie Thorne. He won the Challenge Tour's third- and fourth events.

Murphy won the Wuxi Classic, China. Afterwards, he entered the elite top 16. He made his next appearance at the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. Despite having the tournament's shortest qualifying round of only five frames, he reached the quarterfinals and beat teenager Luca Brecel.
He went on to win the German Masters and the Ruhr Championship as well as the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. He remained at number 3 for the entire 2008/2009 campaign. During that same season, he reached the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters and the UK Championship.
