One of the most popular games in the world is pool. It can be played on many different sized tables. However, it is also a game that requires a high level of skill. There are many forms of pool. But the most popular are continuous and eight ball. These games require skill and can either be played solo, in pairs or as a group sport.

The object of the game is to get all designated balls. This includes cue balls, eight-balls and other object ball. Each player is allowed to choose from one of two pockets found at the foot the table. They will continue until they are fouled or miss. A foul means that the player must return the ball to the cue ball and attempt a new shot. A number of fouls could occur such as hitting the cueball into an item ball, breaking, hitting it into a ball, making an illegal break or performing a jump.

The World Standardized Rules are the official rules of pool. They are used at many international tournaments as well as in the Billiard Council of America. If there is a foul, the ball must be put back on. The ball pocketed by an opponent counts as one point.

In eight-ball, the goal is to pocket the black eight ball. Depending on the variant of the game, other balls will be numbered from 1 to 9. If the player pockets a ball into his own pocket, he wins the game.

A normal foul is punished with a point. If the ball is pocketed in the course of a foul, the ball must be immediately racked. After the player takes his next shot, he can choose to restore the position that he was in prior to the foul. The player may also decide to keep the shot. However, if the opponent places the ball into his pocket, he will get a points.

Another foul is the ball-in-hand foul. This is when a player touches the cueball without putting his or her foot on it. Before taking a shot, a player must announce the pocketed ball. After the foul, the ball must be kept as close to the foot spot that it was when it was taken.

The player who commits two fouls in a row must be warned before taking his or her next shot. The third foul will result is a forfeiture of the game. Example: If the player breaks during the first inning of play, he/she will be awarded a minus point of -10.
