The World Snooker Rankings: Top 10 Players

The official ranking system used by professional snooker player is called the world snooker rankings. These rankings determine who is eligible to participate in World Snooker Tour tournaments. The rankings are maintained by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. In addition to providing players with an idea of their ranking, they provide useful statistics on the sport.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump is among the top ten in world snooker rankings. He is known for his amazing breaks and his dominance of the sport. He has won 23 ranking titles, including the world championship. He is still relatively young, at only 33 years old, and has the potential to stay at the top of the sport for at least another decade. But, he may feel tired from the grind of touring and his age.

Mark Selby

Mark Selby from England is one the most renowned players in the game. He was a former England Under-15 champion and is currently a World Snooker Championship winner. He also has a strong background in pool. He was the 2006 WEPF eightball pool champion and a finalist at the 2015 Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby is originally from Leicester, England. Malcolm Thorne, Willie Thorne's brother, was Selby’s coach.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan spent 280 weeks at top of world snooker rankings. His latest move took him ahead of Mark Selby in the rankings after reaching the semi-finals of the Tour Championship. In May 2002, the Scot became world number one. Since then, he has won 31 ranking titles. His achievements include six World Championship titles and five UK Championships.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams, currently ranked number 10, is one of the most skilled snooker players around. The Welshman became a member of the elite in 1995 with his wins at the Welsh Open and Benson & Hedges Masters. The latter title was won by him with a respotted Black in the final. He won three ranking tournaments and became the fourth player ever to win three titles in one season.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott is the winner of two ranking titles. He also reached the finals at the China Open in 2010. However, his form is inconsistent. He has also been diagnosed with depression and has publicly discussed his struggle with it. The Australian is ranked low in world snooker rankings but has a strong home record.

Dotts's career

Graeme Dott, a professional snooker player since 1994 has steadily climbed up the ranks. He reached the top sixteen in 2001, where he remained until 2009. He reached the quarterfinals of the Welsh Open 1996 and 1997. In 1997, he was the World Champion in 1997. In 2001, he finished second in both the 1999 Scottish Open or the 2001 British Open. He was also second in the 2004 World Championship, and the 2005 Malta Cup. 1999 was his first competitive 147 break.

Dott's ranking

Dott's position in the world snooker rankings fluctuated over time. Six times he reached the top 16. He was number 2 in the 2007/8 Season. However, Dott's ranking has declined since that time.

Mark Williams' ranking

The world snooker ranking of Mark Williams has steadily increased over the past few decades. He has won a number of tournaments, including the Players Championship Grand Final in 2000. He also defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final. He has also topped several world rankings. He was defeated by Anthony Hamilton in Beijing Open's final in 2001. This was his greatest ranking win.
