How to Play 3 Cushion Billards

free billiard games download for pc

Three cushion billiards are a billiard game that is played on a five-by-ten foot table. The object is to make the cueball touch three rails before it touches the second object. Each successful carom earns one point. A shooter who catches all of the object balls does not earn a point. The frame is won by whoever has the most objects.

To play three cushion billiards, the table is larger than the regulation pool table. On one side of the table, a cue ball is placed and a red ball on the other. To line up the shot, players use silver dots placed on the table. This requires precise calculation of angles, distances, and other factors. Once the shot is completed, the object ball is pocketed.

Three cushion billiards are an evolved version of straight-rail billiards. Its origin is traced back to the 1870s, but it was popularized by Wayman Crow McCreery. McCreery, an Internal Revenue Collector from Port Saint Louis in Missouri, was the inventor of this game. McCreery played the game to his own pleasure and eventually patent the idea. Three cushion billiards were a popular choice for many players in the 1950s.

When a shot is made in three cushion billiards, the object of the player is to make the object ball contact three rails before contacting the cue ball. It can be done any way you want, but in most cases it is important to hit both cushions.

The bank shot must be called before the shooter can hit the object ball. This shot can be taken in one or multiple rails. However, the most commonly used bank shot is the single-rail shot.

A 3-rail shot is another type of bank shot. Many different methods can be used, such as the Magic Spot. It is when the ball hits one corner of the table's rail and the cushion the other. A distant point, or a bank shot that includes multiple rails is another option.

When shooting bank shots, the object ball must contact the cushion first. There are exceptions to this rule. You can hit the object ball either before or after it bounces off the rail. Consider a single rail bank shot. As an example the object ball would bounce off of the rail before it entered the pocket.

The inning ends when the object ball gets pocketed outside of the shooter’s called shot. In italics, any illegal breaks or fouls are also noted. The opponent can also take their turn.

Bank shot is the most common method to take possession of objects in pool. Bank Pool is different from nine-ball and eightball. Bank shots are used to get the ball out of the opponent's hands.
