The official ranking system used by professional snooker player is called the world snooker rankings. These rankings determine who is eligible to participate in World Snooker Tour tournaments. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association maintains these rankings. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association provides useful statistics on the sport, as well as providing players with an idea how they rank.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump is currently ranked among the top 10 in the world snooker rankings. He is well known for his stunning breaks and his dominance in the sport. He has won 23 ranking titles including the world championship. He is still relatively young, at only 33 years old, and has the potential to stay at the top of the sport for at least another decade. However, his age combined with the grind of the tour might wear him down.

Mark Selby

Mark Selby, an Englishman is one of world's best players. He is a former England Under-15 Champion and a recent World Snooker Championship Champ. He also has a background in pool. He was the 2006 WEPF Eight-Ball Pool Champion and a finalist in 2015's Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby hails originally from Leicester, England. Malcolm Thorne, brother to Willie Thorne's legendary snooker player, was Selby's coach.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan has been at the top for 280 consecutive weeks. After reaching the semi-finals at the Tour Championship, his latest move saw him surpass Mark Selby in the rankings. The Scot reached the top of the world in May 2002 and has since won 31 ranking title. Six World Championship titles, five UK Championships are just a few of his accomplishments.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams is one of the best snooker players in the world and currently holds the number 10 spot. In 1995, the Welshman made it into the elite by winning the Benson & Hedges Masters and the Welsh Open. He made a respotted in the final to win the title. He also won three ranking tournaments in 1998, becoming the fourth player to win three titles in a single season.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott is the winner of two ranking titles. He also reached the finals at the China Open in 2010. However, his form has been inconsistent since then. He has also struggled with depression and openly shared his struggles with the condition. The Australian is ranked low in world snooker rankings but has a strong home record.

Dotts's career

Since turning professional in 1994, Graeme Dott has steadily climbed the world snooker rankings. He made it to the top 16 in 2001, and he remained there until 2009. He reached the quarterfinals for the Welsh Open in 1996. He also finished second at the 2004 World Championship and the 2005 Malta Cup. In 1999, he made his first competitive break of 147 at the British Open.

Dotts' ranking

Dott's ranking in the world snooker rankings has fluctuated over the years. Six times, he has made it to the top 16. During the 2007/8 season, he was ranked number two. However, Dott's ranking has declined since that time.

Mark Williams' ranking

Mark Williams' world snooker ranking has steadily risen over the past few years. He has won numerous tournaments, including the Players Championship Grand Finals in 2000. Ronnie O'Sullivan also lost the final. He has been ranked number one in the world on numerous occasions. His greatest ranking win came in 2001 when he beat Anthony Hamilton in the finals of the China Open.
